pickleball the fastest growing sport in america
The USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) was organized to promote the growth and development of pickleball, on both a national and international level. This organization provides players with official rules, tournaments, rankings and promotional materials.
The USAPA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation. It is governed by a board of directors who provide the guidance and infrastructure for the continued growth and development of the sport.
The Board is committed to further the growth of pickleball among players of all ages and characteristics. It will continue to provide the infrastructure for the development of the sport through promulgation of official rules, sponsoring and sanctioning tournaments and clinics, ranking players, communicating with its members via e-mail and newsletters, training of all levels of players, and otherwise promoting pickleball.
To ensure consistency in rules and regulations wherever pickleball is played, the International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) was organized to perpetuate the growth and advancement of pickleball throughout the world. The member organizations representing their respective countries have agreed to conduct the business of the IFP in conformance to the Constitution and By laws of the IFP. Member organizations of the IFP observe the “USAPA/IFP Official Tournament Rulebook”.
The USAPA has adopted the rules of the International Federation of Pickleball (IFP). The IFP published the first rulebook in 2010. The 2010 version of the rules was adapted with permission from the rulebook of the USAPA that was first published in March 1984 and included revisions through March 28, 2010.
